With the impact of global warming becoming ever more apparent its now even more important to do our bit for the environment. Many people do not know where to begin but the good news is that it can be done right now in your own home with minimal effort. Being more friendly to the environment will be able to help you save your hard earned wages while you do your bit for our world’s ecosystem. Because you are going to be using less, it means that you will also be spending less and will in the process be doing your part to save the environment.
We are going to now think about a few ways to accomplish this and learn how we are able to be more environmentally friendly.

We are all aware how fundamental water is for our household but have you ever stopped to take into account how much is being used on a daily basis? A vast amount of this water is used for personal hygiene for instance showering and bathing but remember that simply washing dishes and flushing the toilet also can add to that amount. I am not suggesting that you don’t do these things but they can definitely be done as efficiently as possible to lessen your effect on the environment. For example, your toilet could easily be substituted for a dual flush model. After the toilet has been used, this will deliver two flushes, the first one being strong and using an initial burst of water and the second one will give a soft flush that delivers a small amount of water. If all the water that you conserved is added together over the course of a single year, that will definitely end up being a substantial saving!

The floor in your house is another place where you can be a little more environmentally friendly. You will discover natural resources used for flooring, for example cork, which are eco-friendly. Cork alone is actually a great flooring material as it is long lasting, comfortable and has no toxic chemicals. Any time you think of cork you may consider the cork in a wine bottle, well nowadays cork flooring shows up in all sorts of colors and designs. Eco products can be purchase even when you buy caster boards.

If your house has direct sunlight, it might be a good idea to invest in solar panels to save electricity. In the long run you can save lots of money with solar panels as once they’ve paid for themselves you are essentially getting free energy. Solar panels can also be used to manage your hot water needs, so if you’re contemplating changing your water heater have a think about a solar powered model.

Understand that small details count as well! Make sure you remember to switch off lights any time you are not using them, especially when you go out. Bear in mind the small amount of electricity you’ll save by doing this will add up over the months and years. This misused electrical power is not only wasting your money but it is also having an effect on the environment. You can also replace old style light bulbs with newer models that are more efficient to save power. Another method to save electricity is to make sure that you actually turn off electrical devices and gadgets when they are not being used. Make it a routine to turn off your TV and also your router as this will save energy as well. Power is used up in considerable amounts when you find moving parts and even small lights which all adds up in the long term.

The most effective words of advice to remember is that each of the little things add up and will make a big difference. Its more essential at this moment than it has ever been for you to do your bit for the environment.

Background to Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands. It is known throughout the world as one of the greatest small cities in the world. It lies on the banks of two rivers, the Amstel and IJ, and from its canals to the world famous museums and historical sights, Amsterdam has long been considered as one of the most romantic and wonderful cities in the whole continent of Europe.

Established in the later 12th century as a small fishing village on the banks of the Amstel River, Amsterdam has one of the largest historic city centers in Europe. One of the focal point of interest in this city is the Golden Age of Netherlands that dates largely from the 17th century. It was noted that at this time, a row of concentric, semi-circular canals were built around the older city center, but this establishment still defines the city’s layout and appearance today. Amsterdam now has fine houses and mansions that are situated along the canals. Most of these houses and mansions are lived in, while others are now offices and public buildings.

The City Government

Amsterdam, as all Dutch municipalities, is governed by a mayor, his wethouders (aldermen), and the municipal council. Nevertheless, the city is subdivided into fifteen stadsdelen (boroughs), which is a system implemented in the 1980s to improve local governance. The establishment of this system is what sets Amsterdam unique from other Dutch municipalities. The stadsdelen are said to be responsible for a number of activities that previously had been governed and managed by the central city. Fourteen of these have their respective council, which is chosen by a popular election. Westerpoort, the fifteenth, covers the harbour of the city and has very few inhabitants. It is also governed by the central municipal council.

The Language

When it comes to language, many of the people in Amsterdam are proud of the fact that just about everyone speaks English. Although many also speak German and French, it is worth noting that in this capital city of Netherlands, it is a tradition that if you are English speaking, then speak English, unless you speak Dutch too because you are more likely to offend than do anyone a favor by trying out your French or German.

There is a common misconception in the language of Amsterdam; one of those is that Dutch is very close to German. The truth is, they are not mutually intelligible: Dutch people have to learn German at school, and in general they speak better English than German. However, Dutch and German are similar in the same sort of way that French and Italian are similar.

The Weather

In Amsterdam, the typical weather ranges from a little around freezing in the depths of winter to typically pleasant sunny days of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius in the summer. There is also a little snow during the winter season. Furthermore, the spring and autumn are pleasant in Amsterdam; however these seasons can be wet, with 100+ mm of rain per month.

Safety and Health

Amsterdam is a safe city, thus there is nothing really to fear from walking in any part of the city. It has been noted that even in the red-light district around the Oude Kerk, tourists are always spotted wandering around. However, as in any large cities in other parts of the world, you should beware of pick pockets. And, don’t try to photograph the women in the red-light district for that would be risky. In terms of water, the water from taps is perfectly drinkable.

Home-based business

Almost everyone needs or wants more money coming in, and with this desire most would like to start some sort of extra income producing project. The trouble is, not many of these people seem able to fit "a second job" into their time schedules.

It’s true that most people are busy, but extra time for some sort of home-based extra income producing project can almost always be found. It may mean giving up or changing a few of your favorite pastimes–such as having a couple of beers with the guys or watching TV–but if you score big with your extra income project, you will have all the time you want for doing whatever you what to do.

Efficient time management boils down to planning what you’re going to do, and then doing it without backtracking. Start by making a list of the things you want to do tomorrow, each evening
before you go to bed. Schedule your trips to the store or wherever to coincide with the other things you have to do, and with your trips to or from work. Organize your trips to take care
of as many things as possible  while you’re out of the house. take stock of the time you spend on the telephone—and eliminate all that isn’t necessary.

Whatever chores you have to do at home, set aside a specific time to do them, and a specific amount of time to devote to them. For instances, just one hour a day devoted to yard work would probably make your property the envy of all your neighbors. Don’t try to do a week’s work in one big flurry. Whether it’s painting your house, fixing leaky faucets, or mowing your lawn and trimming your shrubs, do a part of it, or one particular job each day, and you’ll be amazed at your progress.

Take care of all your mail the day, you receive it. Don’t let those bills and letters pile up on you. If you’re unable to pay a bill immediately, file it in a special place that’s visible, and note on the envelope the date you intend to pay it. Answer your letters the same day you get them.

Once you start listing and planning what to do, and then carry out your plans, you’ll find plenty of "extra time" for handling virtually any kind of home-based income producing project. People
in general may not like routines or schedules, but without some sort of plan as to what is supposed to be done, the world would be mired in mass confusion. Laws, ordinances and regulations are for the purpose of guiding people. We live according to an accepted plan or way of life, and the better we can organize ourselves, the more productive and happy we become.

The secret of all financially successful people is simply that they are organized and do not waste time. Think about it. Review your own activities, and then see if you can’t find a couple of
extra hours in each day for more constructive accomplishments. Use technology in the right way. You can get a 10 inch netbook and use it on your business.

When you begin planning, and then when you really become involved in an extra income producing endeavor, you should work it exactly as you have organized your regular day-to-day  activities—on a time basis. Do what has to be done immediately. Don’t try to get done in a hour something that’s realistically going to take a week. Plan out on paper what you have to do–what you want to do–and when you are going to do it. Then get right on each project without procrastination.

Finally, and above all else, when you’re organizing your time and your business, be sure to set aside some time for relaxation. Be sure to schedule time when you and your spouse can be together. You must not involve yourself to an extent that you exclude other people–particularly your loved ones–from your life.

Taking stock of the time you waste each day, and from there, reorganizing your activities is what it’s all about. It’s a matter of becoming more efficient in the use of your time. It’s really easy to do, and you will not only accomplish a lot more, you will also find greater fulfillment in your life.
